Brendan is an Industrial Designer with substantial experience in the rail and manufacturing industries. He has been involved with the design and testing of a range of rolling stock vehicles.
He has a unique skill set ranging from the design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of rolling stock, through to technical writing and standards compliance assessment.
Brendan is particularly familiar with rolling stock design with established foundations in material selection, aesthetics and manufacturability.
Brendan is able to lead design activities including prototyping with a practical approach to problem solving. He is highly motivated, versatile and commercially aware. With a keen eye for detail, Brendan is capable of managing projects to the highest standards of design, engineering and manufacturability.
Brendan has been responsible for many engineering projects in the rail industry, including:
- Rolling stock interface compliance and verifications
- Document development and technical authoring
- Manufacturing surveillance
- Fatigue life and failure mitigation investigations
- Design of bogies and various rolling stock components
- Design and development of rolling stock test rigs
- Application of rolling stock design and testing standards
Brendan has extensive capabilities in the design and manufacture of rolling stock components. Throughout his design experience, he addressed component manufacturability and quality by developing concepts, final designs, managing 3D models and signing off on detail drawings. Pursuing this, Brendan spent time at various manufacturing facilities in China.
Testing & data acquisition
Brendan has been heavily involved in static and dynamic testing of rolling stock to verify performance and demonstrate compliance to various Networks across Australia. This has involved the testing of locomotives along with a range of freight wagons, infrastructure maintenance vehicles and RRVs. He has experience in instrumentation for long term warranty and failure investigations.
