Peter Matthews
Principal Engineer
Peter has a strong multi-disciplinary background in structural engineering, durability, design, acoustics, vibration as well as environmental and structural testing.
For over 35 years he has been responsible for delivering consulting assignments across a wide variety of industries including rail, aviation, spacecraft, defence, automotive, maritime, mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
Peter continues to provide those services to positively influence the decision-making processes related to asset management, design, procurement, performance, compliance, testing, safety, reliability and through life support.
Leadership & project management
Peter is a Principal Engineer and provides a leadership role in:
- Project and technical management
- Advanced structures design
- Qualification test management
- Detailed design and analysis of structural/mechanical systems
- Noise and vibration
- Structural and machine dynamics
- Product development
Technical experience
Structural Engineering
Many years of direct experience with domestic and international design standards, as well as multi- disciplinary hands-on experience in a wide spectrum of industries, provides Peter with a broad understanding of structural design requirements.
Product Development Services
Projects have involved advanced engineering design philosophies, requirements mapping, high order modelling and simulation techniques, and advanced manufacturing techniques for conventional and composite structures.
Qualification Test Management
Verifying the product build definition and fitness for purpose requires a robust verification and qualification plan beginning at concept carrying through final design and production.
Peter’s experience in the development and management of this process and conduct of environmental test programmes can provide significant long term economic benefit for the product’s in service performance.
Structural & Machine Dynamics
Interaction of structures, machines and/or environmental excitation can lead to unpleasant outcomes including human vibration (perception, fatigue, injury), in- service durability issues and potentially catastrophic failures of both equipment and structures.
