Bruce Sismey
Principal Mechanical Engineer
Bruce is a Mechanical Engineer with over 40 years experience in the design, operation, testing and maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock. He has experience in rail operations, train performance, incident investigation and has a wide engineering and maintenance expertise.
Bruce has held significant roles across the gamut of railway engineering. He is well positioned to add value to a variety of rail engineering tasks including preparation and review of standards, incident investigation, train performance simulation and review, and rolling stock design review.

Bruce has had a wide experience in leading teams of rail professionals that have supplied engineering support to major rail operators.
Bruce is an acknowledged technical leader in brake & bogie engineering and incident investigation.
Technical experience
Rolling Stock Engineering: Bruce led the technical aspects for the introduction of new rolling stock into Pacific National, including the introduction of ECP braking. Bruce has prepared design changes and standards for the modification and refurbishment of existing rolling stock.
Bruce is experienced in liaising with track owners and regulators on the introduction of new or modified rolling stock into service and setting the conditions for operation.
Train Performance and Testing: Bruce has led teams that have provided support in train testing and brake engineering. Bruce is experienced in undertaking computer-based train simulations.
Standards: Bruce was responsible for the amalgamation of FreightCorp and National Rail standards for rolling stock maintenance at the formation of Pacific National. He was responsible for keeping the register of all rolling stock operational characteristics.
Bruce was involved in updating and introducing new train inspection procedures for Pacific National. He also represented Pacific National on the intersystem wheel / rail committee.
Incident Investigation: Bruce has led or participated in a number of incident investigations for Pacific National and FreightCorp.
